La Voluta
Languedoc, Hautes Corbières, France
La Voluta was born in 2014, following Anna Rubio and Jean-Benoît Vivequain's trip around the world, where they were inspired by diverse winemakers who shared their knowledge and experiences. The couple met in New Zealand while WWOOFing, produced their first vintage there, then settled in Cucugnan beneath Quéribus Castle in the Hautes Corbières. On their 6.5 hectares in the wild, rugged hills between Cucugnan and Maury, they observe and question each intervention for its necessity and impact on the living. Their work is artisanal and as manual as possible — patient and simple — to preserve grape qualities. Inspired by the Koru (Māori symbol of new life), La Voluta strives for vins vivants, sains, et libres — living, healthy, and free wines. Each cuvée is made only once, never repeated.

La Voluta Kuntur
2024 · Still · White · 12.5%
Muscat Marselan
Kuntur is one of La Voluta's whites, a Muscat-Marselan blend from Anna Rubio and Jean-Benoît Vivequain's 6.5-hectare organic estate in Cucugnan, under the ruins of Quéribus Castle in the Hautes Corbières. Marselan (a Cabernet Sauvignon × Grenache cross developed in 1961) is unusual as a white-style component; the pair's house principle is that each cuvée is made only once and never repeated, which licenses experiments like this. Hand harvest, whole-cluster fermentation, short maceration of 3 to 5 days, native yeasts only, no added sulphur at any stage. 12.5% alcohol; expect aromatic Muscat lift balanced by Marselan's quieter structural backbone, the whole pulled into salinity by the Hautes Corbières limestone substrate.
Hand harvest. Whole-cluster fermentation, short maceration of 3 to 5 days. Native-yeast fermentation only. No added sulphur at any stage. La Voluta's house principle: each cuvée made once, never repeated.
La Voluta Tembo
2023 · Still · Red · 13.5%
Grenache Carignan
Tembo is La Voluta's Grenache-Carignan red, the canonical Hautes Corbières pairing brought into Anna Rubio and Jean-Benoît Vivequain's strict natural-wine register. The pair farm 6.5 hectares organically in Cucugnan under the ruins of Quéribus Castle. Cellar protocol holds: hand harvest, whole-cluster fermentation, short maceration of 3 to 5 days, native yeasts only, no added sulphur at any stage. The house principle is that each cuvée is made only once and never repeated, so the Tembo bottling will not return in the same form. 13.5% alcohol; expect the southern-Languedoc weight that Grenache and Carignan naturally provide, lifted by Voluta's short-maceration cellar approach and the limestone substrate that defines the Hautes Corbières hills.
Hand harvest. Whole-cluster fermentation, short maceration of 3 to 5 days. Native-yeast fermentation only. No added sulphur at any stage. La Voluta's house principle: each cuvée made once, never repeated.
La Voluta Karaka

Grenache
Anna Rubio and Jean-Benoît Vivequain met in New Zealand learning winemaking and now run La Voluta on 6.5 hectares of organic-farmed vines in Cucugnan, in the Hautes Corbières under the ruins of Quéribus Castle. The cellar is uncompromising: each cuvée is made only once and never repeated, hand-harvested grapes are whole-cluster fermented for short macerations of 3 to 5 days, native yeasts only, and no sulphites are added at any stage. Karaka is the cellar's Grenache bottling. The 14% alcohol on the 2022 release is in line with what old Grenache vines deliver in the Hautes Corbières limestone hills; expect a dark-fruited, savoury, peppery Grenache with the Voluta cellar's signature lift rather than weight.
Hand harvest. Whole-cluster fermentation, short maceration of 3 to 5 days. Native-yeast fermentation only. No added sulphur at any stage. La Voluta's house principle: each cuvée made once, never repeated.
