About D-I Wine
The D.I.Y. importer.
D-I Wine is an independent wine importer based in New York City. We source directly from small producers across Japan and Europe.
The name is a play on ‘direct import’ and ‘do it yourself.’ We built this company from scratch because we thought more wines deserve a more direct path to the people drinking them.
Japanese Wine
Japan’s wine regions are among the most exciting and least understood in the world. From hybrid grapes in Hokkaido to Koshu in Yamanashi, our Japanese producers are farmers first — many of them working tiny plots by hand in volcanic soil, limestone caves, and mountain vineyards.
European Selection
Our European portfolio is rooted in France, with producers in Spain, Italy, and Catalonia. Almost exclusively zero-zero, always minimal intervention. Small domaines making unrepeatable wines — often just a few hundred bottles per cuvée.
Direct Relationships
We work directly with every producer we represent. These are people we know, vineyards we’ve visited, and wines we’ve chosen firsthand.
Transparent Sourcing
Who made it, how it was farmed, what’s in the bottle—that shouldn’t be a mystery. We make it clear because it matters.
Character Over Convention
We’re not interested in wines that taste the same. We look for individuality, a sense of place, and bottles that stand apart.
