The secret of the hiqh quality fruit coming from Les Salicaires in Canet-en-Roussillon is out: the grapes are coveted by star winemakers. Vincent Lafage inherited his 16 hectare estate 'Les Salicaires' from his father in 2016. A stone's throw from the 'radiant coast' of the Mediterranean, the estate brings the nostalgia of summers in the South of France with fresh oceanic breeze in the air. Grenache Noir, Blanc, and Gris (a rarity!), Syrah, Macabeu, Muscat, and Carignan are planted on rolled pebbles and rest on a clay-limestone soil. They benefit from altitude, mild weather and abundant wind. Little intervention - apart from gentle herbal tea and essential oil sprays - is required to produce healthy and beautiful fruit. Vincent is an unmistakably quiet, honest and genuine guy -- someone who prefers to let his work do the talking. Always accompanied by his faithful dog, 'le chien rouge,' his 2022 vintage shows his great potential as an emerging natural winemaker of the Roussillon and showcases his coveted fruit.
