Pierre Rousse
Languedoc, Limoux, France
Pierre Rousse was the first winemaker we visited in France. He tends five hectares in Western Languedoc, just south of the medieval fortress town, Carcassonne. He grows Merlot, Pinot noir, Cabernet franc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay, all organically (though not certified). He's a winemaker's winemaker. Pierre is incredibly patient, and lets the wines become themselves all on their own. These wines are truly unique, and beautifully finessed. Do not miss these.
